The SHOPSMITH Journey Rickertville has been selling ShopSmith parts since 2015 when Robert was traded an older Shopsmith for his help building / remodeling a closet into a bathroom. This OLD ShopSmith needed lots of parts and work to bring it into good working condition. Thus, began Robert's journey into buying and rebuilding ShopSmiths and collecting accessories for his ShopSmith. Soon we found our barn overfilled with rebuilt equipment for the ShopSmith. Robert found many forums and groups of other ShopSmith users, and a place to share is passion.
He found that many other people needed accessories and parts for their older ShopSmith. So, this is how he began selling his collection of cleaned and rebuilt accessories and parts.
The Honey Bee Journey For years we've had several friends that kept bees. One had several hives that they kept, for the honey to take to the same market we tended. Another was, and still is a commercial bee keeper who keeps bees that he transports to orchards for pollination in the north and deep south. In June of 2015, we happen to be some place where a swarm of bees was resting in a large pine tree and of course Robert had to investigate. He then called our market friend to let them know of the swarm. This friend brought equipment and gave Robert some quick instruction on how to capture the swarm. Thus began the journey of bee keeping. Not for honey, but for the propagation of bees. Bee Keeping for the Bees' Sake.
Live Edge Wood - The past several years Robert has gotten into working with Live Edge Wood. He started flattening wood by hand with a router and makeshift levels. To tackle some of the larger slabs of live edge he built his Slab flattening machine in 2021.
